📊 Overview

The Finance Dashboard is a comprehensive, interactive visualization project built in Power BI. It provides actionable insights into income, savings, expenses, and targets through dynamic charts and measures. Built solo in just 2 weeks as a final school deliverable (July 2025), with all design assets created in Figma and Canva.


🏷️ Project Status

Version 1.0 (Final school deliverable, July 2025). This project is complete for academic submission, but will be updated in the future with new features and improvements.


🛣️ Roadmap

  • 🔄 Automatic data refresh via OneDrive or SharePoint
  • 📈 Additional KPIs (Net worth trajectory, Emergency-fund ratio)
  • 🔐 Row-level security for multi-user scenarios
  • 🌐 Localization (English / French / Arabic labels)

  • Dynamic Slicers: Year and Month filters for granular insights
  • Donut Charts: Visualize the breakdown of expenses and savings
  • Line Chart: Trends of income, savings, and expenses over time
  • Dynamic Interactions: Tooltips and dynamic line chart display

Prerequisites

Steps

  1. Clone this repository:
    git clone https://github.com/xDweeb/Finance-Dashboard-PowerBi.git
  2. Open the finance_dashboard.pbix file in Power BI.
  3. Explore and customize the dashboard as needed.

📁 Data Source

The dashboard uses a simulated dataset (financial_data.xlsx) with the following columns:

  • Type: Categories (Income, Savings, Expenses, Target)
  • Component: Subcategories (e.g., Groceries, Health)
  • Date: Transaction dates
  • Value: Monetary amounts

🎨 Design

Custom backgrounds and visual elements were created in Figma and Canva to enhance the dashboard's look and feel.
