Hi everyone,

I am a student from Tra Vinh University in Vietnam. My current status:

1. I joined a full online program in my university. It means that I have a few chances to stay in my campus because I only interact with my university via the Internet.
2. My university sent me a document to prove my student status. However, the document is only in Vietnamese.

I really don't know how to take photos to meet their need. Please help me to complete the verification process.

Hi, you can upload your student document even if it’s in Vietnamese—just make sure it clearly shows your name, university, and valid date. Take a clear photo in good lighting, keep the document fully visible (no cropping), and avoid blur or glare. If possible, include an English translation or a brief explanation in the description to help reviewers understand it.

2. Answer why I am not in my campus.
   Should I provide a translate of this document in textbox for the reason why I am not in my campus?

Fix your name: Make your GitHub name exactly match your document (same order, no changes).

On your university document:

MAI NGUYỄN BẢO TRÂM
-> Family name first (Vietnamese order)

On your GitHub billing:
First name: Nguyễn Bảo Trâm
Last name: Mai
-> Rearranged to Western order

Add “online learning” proof: Your document must clearly say you study online/remote at Tra Vinh University.
Upload a clear photo: Full document, readable, no blur.
Turn off VPN + enable location when submitting.
If it still fails → submit a GitHub support ticket.

Hi,

Your situation is valid, you just need to fix a few things:

Make sure your name exactly matches your GitHub account
Your document can be in Vietnamese, that’s okay
It must clearly show you are in an online/virtual program
Turn on location services and don’t use a VPN

If it still fails, submit a ticket and choose:
“My school has incorrect or incomplete information”, then explain you are a fully online student.

How should I fill Last name and First name? Did I do correctly?

For the name fields: use exactly what appears on your GitHub account billing info. First name = given name (tên), Last name = family name (họ). If your GitHub account shows "Nguyen Van A", your Last name is "Nguyen" and First name is "Van A" (or just "A" depending on the field format). The exact character match matters, including accents.

For the "not near campus" part: yes, write a short explanation in English in the text box. Something like: "I am enrolled in a 100% online/virtual program at Tra Vinh University and have no physical campus attendance requirement." Keep it simple and factual.

Your document being in Vietnamese is fine, but it needs to clearly state that you're in an online or distance learning program (học từ xa / chương trình trực tuyến). If your current document doesn't mention the learning modality, ask your university registrar for a letter that specifically says this, along with your enrollment status and dates. That specific point is likely why it keeps failing.

Also make sure: location permissions are fully enabled in your browser (not just allowed, but actively on), VPN is completely off at the OS level, and the document photo is sharp with all text clearly readable from edge to edge.

The image taken get blurry all the time. I am using one of the best phone camera but still it is the same issue and been a frustrating experience. There is no option to upload or something.

After I take a clear photo of the original proof alongside a typed English translation, and fill "I am enrolled in a 100% online/virtual program at Tra Vinh University and have no physical campus attendance requirement.", I was approved.

Maybe you also need to check the Name or you maybe Mismatches Your name on the application must exactly match the name on your academic documents, including any middle names or unique characters

Clear Browser Data: Log out of all accounts, clear your cache, and log in only with the account you intend to verify.
