Hi,
I'm using GitHub Classroom in my organisation, so I have private template repos, assignments and my students have forks of the template repo. Now I want my students that have finished their study to take their repos to their private account. Unfortunatly, in their repo they can't and I don't find why.

They are Admin of their repo (and I am also).
Their repo is a fork of the private template repo of my organisation (I'm owner of the Organisation and admin of the template repo).
I've checked the configuration of my Organisation: the option "Allow members to delete or transfer repositories for this organization" is checked.

As I am the owner of the organisation they contact me, but I don't know what I can do more than everything above.

Do someone has a tip for me, what I can look at?

For those who are still encountering this issue, I had success with the method described here. After the fork is detached, it can be transferred successfully.

Note that if you want to retain collaborator access, you will have to re-add the old collaborators to the new repository.

Also note that creating repos (a step in the detach repo workflow linked above) is secondary rate limited. This ended up being a bottleneck for me.

The manual detachment approach is something that the students can do themselves: clone SOURCE and mirror-push into TARGET:

1. git clone --bare https://github.com/ORGNAME/SOURCE
2. create empty repo TARGETNAME in new account NEWOWNER
3. git --git-dir SOURCE.git push --mirror https://github.com/NEWOWNER/TARGETNAME.git

This does not transfer issues or PRs.

The wiki can be transferred, though, using the same approach. Enable wikis in TARGET repo and then use the wiki repo URL:

1. git clone --bare https://github.com/ORGNAME/SOURCE.wiki.git
2. create an empty page in the TARGET wiki (to initialize the wiki repo)
3. git --git-dir SOURCE.wiki.git push --mirror https://github.com/NEWOWNER/TARGETNAME.wiki.git

This should also transfer the wiki.
