goose Feedback Wanted: Desktop Nav Refresh

There is an experimental navigation change coming to goose Desktop's UI, where you can customize your layout and positioning along with updates to styling. We'd love to know what you think of this change before it goes live to everyone!

The team is looking for general feedback on this design change. Things like how you like the change, stating you like it, reasons or not, are all valuable. Please drop your feedback in this discussion post or in this Discord thread 🧵.

The main differences are:

• settings now has customizable layout options for the navigation (overlay or list/tiles)
• settings also positioning options (left/right/top/bottom)
• the default layout is left sidebar (like the current app), however the styling has also been updated a bit.

Problem
As a frequent Goose user working across multiple workstreams simultaneously, all my chat sessions appear as a flat chronological list with no way to group related conversations. This makes it difficult to find and revisit past sessions on a specific topic.

Proposed Solution
Add the ability to organize chat sessions — similar to how ChatGPT supports folders/projects. Specifically:

Folders / Projects — Create named groups (e.g., "Apple Pay Integration", "Lending", "Afterpay Analytics") and assign sessions to them
Tags / Labels — Tag sessions with keywords for cross-cutting organization
Search & Filter — Filter the session list by folder, tag, or keyword
Pin / Favorite — Pin important sessions for quick access
Use Case
I regularly work across multiple topics and subtopics. Being able to group and search my past chats will allow me to easily retrieve past conversations.

ChatGPT's "Projects" feature for grouping conversations
Gmail labels / Google Drive folders
IDE workspace grouping (e.g., VS Code workspaces)

Agreed a "Project" concept would be a nice way to organize the chats. With ability to both create new chats and for reorganizing existing Chats. I see we have search for Chats now by pressing ctrl+F which is great. Would want the same for "Projects".
